Altered wooden recipe book

And this month on the IndigoBlu we are celebrating the glorious colours of Autumn (my second least favourite season of the year ;-)).
There's a nice story behind this project, a story of friendship, a new friendship. I've moved to a new place on my own and the person who gave me this wooden recipe book to alter is now a new friend, she helped and supported me in this new life and I feel so blessed to have met her.
Of course I've altered it thinking about her, she has a big family and she is a great cook.

In my stash I had only the bright set of Gelatos, so to get the warm hues of Autumn I did this (it is also good for any paints):
Gesso the surface:

A hint of blue is the key
Un pizzico di blu
E poi sfumare con le dita
Just rub with the fingers:

Here's a picture we've made together: she's also a crafter and we decorated the sewing box I hold on my head on a Friday night, such fun!
