Vintage Canvas

Some while ago I made this "painting", clearly inspired by Donna Downey's poppies. But it din't like me so much.
So, I decided to revamp it. I loved the texture but not the poppies and the purple.

Qualche tempo fa avevo dipinto questo canvas, ispirandomi ai famosi papaveri della Donna Downey. Ma non ne sono mai stata convinta. Cosi' ho deciso di ...alterarlo!

To avoid wasting too much gesso or acrilyc paint to cover the poppies, I glued down to the canvas some pieces of magazine, book pages and music sheet.
Ho ricoperto i papaveri con dei pezzi di giornale e spartiti musicali.

I covered it with gesso.
L'ho ricoperto di gesso.


I laid down some pieces of lace and I sprayed with golden and pink mist ( but since it was too pink, I cleaned the background with a baby wipe)

L'ho spruzzato con dei mist usando dei pizzi come stencil, ma poi l'ho ripulito perche' era troppo rosa.

I stamped it with black Stazon and Pumice Stone Distress ink.

I glued down the pieces of lace and I added the image from a vintage magazine :

Paint Week!

As you already guessed, this week's theme at CraftBarn is "Paint", we've just received the order to have fun with them (and I really painted for an entire week...I mean it, just went to work and then paint paint paint). From two pieces of A4 sheet of canvas, I created two artsy pochette:

Trinket box

I have the lucky to have a friend that live near to me sharing my same passion for crafting. So, the last time we went to a CraftShow we bought the same box ( a crafter always needs new boxes) and we've decided to alter it , without knowing how the other one can alter it! And can you guess we had the same idea, using the same brand of paper , my fave at the moment, Graphic45.

Ho la fortuna di abitare vicino ad un'amica con la mia stessa passione per il crafting. Cosi', l'ultima volta che siamo andate all' HobbyShow, abbiamo preso due scatole ( c'hanno fatto pure lo sconto!) uguali. Abbiamo deciso di alterarle, senza sapere come avrebbe fatto l'altra.

E indovinate un po? Abbiamo avuto la stessa idea di usare le carte della Graphic45, le piu' belle sul mercato al momento, per me.

For my box I covered the edges with Tim's tape, then I cut to size and glued to the box some pieces of paper.

Per la mia scatola ho ricoperto tutti gli angoli con il nastro di Tim, poi ritagliato e incollato i pezzetti di carta.

I left one side free of paper, and I glued to it some metallic embellishments.

Ho lasciato un lato libero, per vedere l'interno, su cui ho attaccato degli charms metallici.

Bird Week

Quando ho saputo il tema di questa settimana su CraftBarn, mi sono spulciata il sito di CraftBarn e ho trovato un magnifico kit di timbri della Kanban (mai sentita in verità) . Non sono una grande stamper, ma ho provato a cimentarmi alterando una piccola bacheca di cartone.

For this week's theme at CraftBarn, "Birds", I digged in the shop and I found a beautiful plate from Kanban. Since stamping is not my cup of tea, I put a little effort on this piece, but I'm quite happy with it:

Questa settimana su CraftBarn il tema e' "Resistere e' futile", sono capitata per caso in questo prodotto, usato generalmente dagli artisti, è divertente, è blu, facile da usare ed è pure economico.

L'ho usato nella mia ultima pagine dell'AJ, ho disegnato con il fluido, ho spruzzato e poi...maggiori dettagli qui.

Cuore di Marzo/March's heart

It's already March! And I can't wait to found out, every beginning of the month, the new theme at HeartJournal 2012.

This is my fave of the three I've done, even if it lacks of something, maybe a sentiment ? Dunno....

Non vedo l'ora che arrivi l'inizio di ogni mese per scoprire il nuovo tema su HeartJournal2012. Fra i 3 che ho fatto questo e' il mio preferito, anche se mi pare manchi qualcosa, non so.

Ho incollato dei pezzi di spartiti musicali, insieme ai dei pezzetti di canvas
I glued down some pieces of music sheet, along with strips of canvas

L'ho dipinto di lilla e l' ho coperto di gesso
I painted some areas with lilac acrylic paint, and then I covered it with gesso

I stamped it
L'ho stampatoI covered some areas with UTEE, several layers, and I stamped it when still hot
Ho ricoperto alcune aree con la polvere UTEE, diversi strati, e l'ho stampata mentre era ancora calda.

Ho evidenziato la superficie con le polveri di mica, bianca e rame.
I put some mica powders with the help of a paintbrush.

MiniWeek!

This week at Craftbarn is a mini week! I love mini craft, even if it's not the easiest one, but it gives lot of satisfaction!

DIY cat bed/ Cuccia gatto faidate.

Dido's speaking. Today I want to tell you about the day that Gio decided to make a new comfy and artsy bed for me.
Ciao Sono Dido, oggi vi raccontero' della volta che Gio ha deciso di creare una cuccetta nuova per me ...comoda e artistica ( alla sua maniera si capisce).

Questa è la mia attuale casetta, sicura, resistente e grattabile, non potevo lamentarmi.
This was my previous home: a sturdy, reliable, scratchable one, couldn't complain.

She had this crazy stupid idea to use three pieces (different size) of previous painted pieces of fabric: after hours of cutting, stitching, bad words and unstitching, she gave up and she decided to start with a new piece of fabric.

E' partita con l'idea di usare 3 pezzi di stoffa colorati in precedenza, di misure diverse...ma, ormai alto il sole, dopo taglia, cuci, scuci e molte imprecazioni, ha deciso di rinunciare e ricominciare daccapo da un solo pezzo di stoffa bianca .
L'ha appoggiato per terra e c'ha messo sopra dei centrini, abbellimenti, mondezzina varia (seguendo un'idea da un corso online della Tracy Bautista sul sito della Strathmore ) .

She laid a long piece of calico on the floor, she put lots of metallic embellishments, pieces of lace and others small objects on it (inspired by the free online course by Tracy Bautista on Strathmore site )

and started to spray colours

Ha spruzzato tanti colori

When dry she added some stamped and stencilled images using acrylic paints, gesso and inks:

Una volta asciutto ha aggiunto dei motivi con gli stencil usando gesso e colori acrilici e dei timbri:

Then she sewn the stripe on the right side and put some stuff inside it.

Ha cucito la striscia sul diritto e l'ha riempita di imbottitura a mo' di ciambellone.

At this point she cut an oval piece from a red cardstock and glued (!!!) the fabric to it.

Ha incollato il ciambellone ad una base di cartoncino ovale.

I decided to make a test while she was stitching the pillow for the bottom. It was good, soft and the right size but ...what the hell...there's something here...

Mentre lei cuciva il cuscino interno ho deciso di fare un test, ma ma c'e' qualcosa qui:

Un buco!

After she fixed the little mistake she added the pillow and it was mine....

Dopo aver riparato il buco e aggiunto il cuscino, la nuova cuccia era mia...
